Friday Feature: Epic Philly Fitness Collabs Happening in September

Lumos Yoga & Barre are teaming up with a bunch of local studios, plus two powerhouse female fit pros join forces.


On Fridays, we’ll highlight some pretty rad things happening throughout the city. Whether it’s a gym hosting a one-of-a-kind fitness event or a chance for you to get your self-care on, our Friday Feature is definitely worth checking out.

Whether you’re headed down the shore for some socially distant beach time or sticking around the city for a ~staycation~, we hope you enjoy the extended weekend and take advantage of that extra day off! For this week’s Friday Feature, we’re focusing on two epic fitness collabs popping up in the city this month. Mark your calendars!

First up, Shoshana Katz of BPM Fitness and Shannon Brennan of Come Alive 215 are joining forces on Sunday, September 13th. It’s been over one year since the two co-hosted a fitness event, which means (1) it’s going to be one for the books and (2) you can’t miss it. The 60-minute outdoor workout, which starts at 11:30 a.m. at Matthias Baldwin Park (right behind BPM), will be a combo of strength training, bodyweight exercises, and cardio. In addition to the female-led fun, Lumos Yoga & Barre is running a two-month long — you heard us, TWO. MONTHS. LONG. — workout series with other local studios and instructors, including Teranga Yoga, Nonnormative Body Club, Leverage Fitness, Lauren Leavell, and Focus Barre & Yoga. The outdoor pop-ups are scheduled to happen every Saturday morning from September 5th (that’s tomorrow!) through October 31st at The Spring Gardens in Fairmount. On most dates, you can expect two or three classes, all of which will either be yoga, barre, HIIT, or strength training. All classes are $15, and BYO mat, mask, and props. For Lauren Leavell’s and Asher Freeman’s classes on September 5th, October 3rd and October 31st, there are five pay-what-you-can spots prioritized for LGBTQ+ and BIPOC folks.
